Temple University's Black Student Union presents
For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf
by Ntozake Shange
Adapted and Directed by Jamila Capitman
November 21st @ 8:00pm / November 22nd @ 8:00pm
Doors open at 7:30pm
This production is a combination of spoken word and dance that depict the experiences of the black woman, from her point of view. It features seven ladies each dressed in a different color, each representing an aspect of the Black woman and her very personal journey through racism, love, abuse, sexuality, spirituality and self identification.  The play was first performed in 1974, and is surprisingly current, with a little adaption, it is an important piece of contemporary black theater that is incredibly relevant at this time in our history. As this country begins to change, young black women need to have a voice, and this play is one example of what that voice can sound like. For Colored Girls is the Temple Black Student Unions first theatrical production and we are proud to be in partnership with the Freedom Theatre. One of our goals as an organization is to promote positive self expression and give opportunities to young black artists.  Please come and be inspired!
