Preteen/Youth Theatre School
Preteen (5.5-7yrs)/Teen (12-18 yrs)
Basic
All basic level classes develop confidence, discipline for the work, explore creativity and prepare students to perform on the stage as an ensemble.
Acting
Students participate in fun introductory theater games, improvisation exercises, vocabulary and acting techniques.
Dance
Students learn basic dance vocabulary, stretches and exercises through jazz dance/hip-hop and ballet concepts.
Vocal Arts (teens only)
Students learn basic vocal arts vocabulary and choral singing through breathing and vocal exercises and basic music theory.
Beginning/Intermediate
The beginning intermediate level classes are by audition only and are for students to receive serious training in the performing arts and to prepare for auditions for schools of high learning and/or professional work. A limited amount of partial scholarships are available.
Artistic Merit Acting Program
Students learn acting and voice/speech techniques that prepare them to develop characters, work with scripts for the stage.
Artistic Merit Dance Program (teens only)
Students take ballet, jazz and African Dance techniques which prepares them to perform dance variations and dance pieces.
Advanced
The advanced level classes are by audition only and continue the curriculum to the advanced level. These students have the opportunity to perform in student traveling shows and workshops and to audition for New Freedom Theatre’s Season of Performances. A limited amount of partial and full scholarships are available.

Students continue learning vocal arts vocabulary and choral singing with emphasis on harmony and small group and solo singing for the stage.

Basic
Basic Acting
Students participate in acting exercises that promote self-expression, emotional expression, creativity and vocal articulation. These classes prepare students to perform monologues, scenes and to develop characters on stage as well as get the actor’s body expressive for acting.
Beginning/Intermediate
The beginning intermediate level classes are by audition only and are for students to receive serious training in the performing arts and to prepare for auditions for professional work. A limited amount of partial scholarships are available.
Artistic Merit Acting Program
Students learn acting and voice/speech techniques that prepare them to develop characters, work with scripts for the stage. Students involved in this class will participate in The Black History Show and a production of a drama in the Spring.
FitStation
Get in Shape! Get healthy! Have Fun! Take two (2) fitness classes per week—Afro-Aerobics and Pilates.
